Vehicle information: Vin # 138177B112??? ENG stamp pad No. : T0921ET Eng. casting no.: 3902406 Intake casting No.: 3885?18 Date: I186 Carb. No.: round metal tag is missing, but I believe it’s original. Dist. 12345 11111163 date: 6G28 Turbo 400 it’s the original trans and has the label plate but I can’t read the numbers. Rear End Code: KX0921B Casting No.: 3894939 Firewall tag 10A 084 67-13817BAL1015 738 C-2 112486 History: This ad is offering for sale a numbers matching 67 SS 396-325 hp Chevelle that I’ve owned for twenty years. I bought this car from a local guy who had purchased it from Roger Ausley’s Collection. I suppose I have had a love for 67 Chevelles since I was 10 years old. My father special ordered a 67 Malibu and I have a fond memory of going down to the dealership after hours that day and looking at our new car through the windows. I remember how excited my dad was when we picked it up the next morning. That Malibu was our family car for years and it eventually became my first car. My wife and I dated in that Malibu that I later sold and I’ve always wanted another. In 1985, I actually exceeded my dreams of owning another 67 Chevelle when I purchased two 67’s at the same time. Now my wife and I would have a ‘his’ and ‘her’ matching SS Chevelles. I never restored her SS and about a year later I sold it to a local friend he still owns the car!. This 98K original mile Super Sport has many factory options that include P/S, P/B, A/C, AM-FM with rear speaker, Turbo 400 with console, 12 bolt posi, and is Ermine white with blue interior. I knew this investment quality Chevelle was worth keeping all GM, so I collected NOS parts for fifteen years everything from NOS headlamp bezels to NOS backup lamp assemblies. My plan has been to restore this Chevelle, drive it for a few years, sell it and use the proceeds toward the construction costs of a new home. Well...I completed the construction on our home and we’ve been living in it for nearly a year and I keep making excuses and making excuses as to why I have not listed this car for sale! Wonder why? I replaced the original carpet in 1999 and started the restoration and I will do my best to describe what I did for the frame-up restoration. Body & Paint: I replaced the original fenders and hood with GM parts Yes a NOS GM SS hood. All the remaining sheet metal is original even the front and rear bumpers. There is a small amount of filler in the right ¼ and in front & behind the left ¼ wheel well. I have 35 mm pictures of the restoration but I didn’t have my digital at that time The body was stripped to bare metal, painted with self etching primer, velva sealed and top coated with lacquer paint, using all DuPont products. The paint job looks great, but is not perfect, it’s probably an nine on a scale of 1 to 10 I must have over tighten the exterior door handles and one of the ¼ panel SS emblems because, last year I noticed the paint has small cracks in these areas. It originally had a black vinyl top but, was removed by the previous owner. Trim: The orig. bumpers were re-chromed. The grill is still factory riveted to the upper grill support and the drip rail and Front & rear windshield trim was professionally polished. All, I mean all the other exterior trim, emblems and tail light bezels were replaced with NOS GM parts correction, hood inserts are aftermarket. I have saved the GM p/n labels for the trim and have them glued on notebook paper see pictures of a few. Engine, Trans and rear-end: I disassembled the original engine and it still had all its original GM parts. The block was cleaned, honed and installed new cam bearings and turned the crank .010- .010. New rings on the original pistons, new cam, oil pump and reworked the heads. Machine work was done by Keen’s Machine Shop, Smithfield, VA. I had the original carb rebuilt and distributor re-curved. The original turbo 400 trans was professionally inspected and all new seals installed. how many times have you had a trans shop say there is NOTHING wrong with your transmission?? . I installed new front and rear u-joints. I change the lube in the rear, added a bottle of GM posi-additive and installed new cover gasket. Interior and trunk: It still has the nice original dash pad. I had all the interior plastic re-chromed. I repainted the dash face and the top of the doors and installed a new interior kit; carpet, seat covers, door panels and headliner. I have the new front and rear headliner trim but they need to be dyed, because I could only buy black. I installed an NOS A/C controls several years ago. The original A/C kick panels are in great shape but the color is a little faded. The inside of the trunk is detailed like new and I had the original jack restored. I also replaced both front and rear speakers with GM replacements. Suspension and Brakes: I removed the upper and lower control arms, sandblasted and installed new bushings and ball joints. I replaced the idler arm and all the brake components. This car has always ridden so well that I did not replace any springs during the restoration. I also installed new dual exhaust system with NOS exhaust hangers. New shocks and sway bar bushings. This investment quality chevelle looks, rides and drives great and I’ve always enjoyed cruising and listening to the AM-FM radio. It has 15 x 7 rally wheels with the GM flat caps. This car was restored exactly like it rolled off the assembly line, except for a very few items. I talked with Roger Ausley after I purchased the car mainly about the open element air cleaner and he stated that it was there when he owned the car. I bought a NOS open element assembly and reinstalled on the car even though I know the 325 hp cars should have the short snorkel air cleaner. Things that may or may not need to be done: I did not overhaul the A/C system during the restoration; it worked for several years and still has the original components but does not work now. I have the original glass washer bottle that goes on the inner fender and a new one, but I can not find either one but, I’m still looking!!!!! Within the last year, after the engine is hot, I can hear a minor/faint/slight rocker arm or lifter noise in the top of the engine that is not there until the engine reaches full operating temperature. I adjusted the valves during engine reassembly to one full turn from zero lash. I did not readjust while the engine is running, but neither did GM. It has not increased in volume and I’ve continue to drive the car. I have made an honest effort to accurately describe all aspects of my 67 SS chevelle.
